“Chet Baker and a pretty young woman.” (Below Left Image.) This image of Chet was captured during his brightest period where he looked so young and hopeful. Chet was the quintessential young white lion on the jazz scene beginning in the early 1950’s.
He possessed a velvet voice and had an amazing simple style. A proficient and crisp trumpeter by anyones measure, Baker was equal to the task no matter the arrangement.
Accompanying Chet through much of his life-were his well publicized demons. Namely his struggle with heroin.
Yet, even amid his crippling addiction, Chet embodied everything that a musician should be. And for that we still thank him each time we take a listen.
